PSM Memories, 2023

Exhibition design

PSM Memories is an exhibition design that aims to uncover the contribution and impact of PSM (Zorlu Performing Arts Center - one of the largest culture and performing art centers in the world, founded in 2013) to the culture and art life of Istanbul.

The exhibition design is seamlessly incorporated into the architectural elements of the space, following the curves of the big mirror-covered pillars, fitting between two columns like a piece of a puzzle. A semi-transparent red plexi surface carries the colour code of the "Unseen" backstage experience (signaling the tour's starting/meeting point) and offers a surface for presenting the exhibition content elements(texts, screens, speakers and sensors).

On top of the plexi surface a timeline, starting from the opening of PSM, takes us through the most popular performances presented in the centre's stages until today. Below the timeline, eight screens show backstage videos of selected performances. The sound of each screen is activated when a visitor stands in front of it - so that the exhibition doesn't create a constant noise in the space.

The modular design of the PSM Memories exhibition makes it possible to extend it with new additional panels and contents in the following years. The memory element makes it a permanent showcase for PSM to share its history with the visitors on a regular basis. Through its content and design, the exhibition also stands to be a sustainable permanent element of the space instead of a temporary intervention which ends up as waste in a very short period of time.
