upcycling stage project

Salon is designed as a site-specific stage for the Modri Kot (Blue Corner) community at Autonomous Factory Rog, an alternative community space in Ljubljana. In this project, I mainly tried to question how the design of a space can bring people together under a new purpose to contribute to the process of creating a collective community and an informal economy.

Salon was mainly designed through upcycling donated wardrobes and found materials. Community members contributed different phases of construction through their interest and backgrounds. A series of events were realized to activate the space and in a very short time it became one of the popular alternative stages of Ljublijana. The posters for the opening event of the stage were made by community members through open invitations.
