Spikes, 2024

9th Canakkale Biennial

Spikes are kinetic light sculptures that explore the possibilities of transferring traditional Çini patterns that have been discovered during craft research, brıngıng them from archives into the present. New forms and materials establish a connection with the past. With their kinetic movement, the patterns emerging from a 2D surface transform into mystical 3D luminous forms, swaying in the space like wheat spikes shining at sunrise, offering us new possibilities regarding the contemporary potential of craft.
