Istanbul’s Craft Map : https://www.craftedinistanbul.com/locations

Crafted In Istanbul is an action research project, which aims to show the cultural and economical potential of crafts. “Crafted In Istanbul” project not only documents and analyses the evolution of craftsmanship in the city, but also creates opportunities for collaborations between craftsmen and creative actors. The project makes crafts visible and reachable by an online map system offering information on craftsmen’s studios, their locations and expertise, in order to activate mutual exchange of experience and know-how between craftsmen and creatives.

Featured among others in:

  • Istanbul Biennial (2017)

  • Istanbul Design Biennial (2014)

  • Arte Útil international contemporary art archive- founded by Tania Bruguera - as a case-study that “draws on artistic thinking to imagine, create and implement tactics that change how we act in society”.

The journey that started by mapping craft studios of Istanbul has been evolving to an expanding socially engaged art project - CraftNet.

CraftNet focuses on building creative communities and networks around crafts to reveal their contemporary potential.
